A liberal arts education is something that most people cannot afford and the debt that some people receive is hard to overcome. The UNE Handbook misses the fact that this school is very expensive and not everyone can afford to go here. Making the most of liberal arts degrees is necessary because of the cost of tuition. The debt that most students obtain from a school like this could be devastating if you do not get a good job after college. “The cost of American higher education is spiraling out of control, and liberal-arts colleges are becoming irrelevant because they are unable to register gains in productivity or to find innovative ways of doing things.” Ungar’s answer to this is creating a good campus environment which will make students comfortable and allow them to enjoy their time at college while being successful in the classroom. This classroom success will lead to a successful career after college.

What it does do is set you up with good skills to find a high paying job and be able to overcome this debt. What I see this as is making the most of liberal arts degrees, which is necessary because of the cost of tuition. If you create a good campus environment which will make students comfortable and allow them to enjoy their time at college while being successful in the classroom. This classroom success will lead to a successful career after college.
