Project 3 – Revision

In his article, Michael Carter discusses four metagenres which  can be seen as broad from their definition. The four metagenres discussed are problem solving, empirical inquiry, research from source, and performance. Carter describes problem solving as identifying a problem and taking the most logical steps to solve the issue. For empirical inquiry Carter describes it as answering questions from drawing conclusions based on empirical data. The UNE applied exercise science major is seen in all of these metagenres but falls short as identifying as one in ful. “As an exercise science major, you develop a strong understanding of the physiological, biomechanical and psychological effects of exercise on the human body”(UNE AES). It is clear that AES major covers a wide variety of topics that can lead to multiple different career paths. There is a part of all  Carter’s metagenres that can be applied to AES. Problem solving can be seen the most because most fields and most UNE majors implicate an aspect of problem solving.
